Workshop Description:
In this fun and hands-on collaborative class, you will work with award-winning songwriter, music producer, and musician, Charlie Mangold, to create a song while you learn the basics of songwriting: structure, lyric writing, accompaniment, and Garage Band music production. No prior singing or instrumental experience is required. Just bring your ears and your creativity! If you do play an acoustic or electric instrument, please bring it. Drum kit and keyboard will be available. At the end of the session, participants will bring home a CD of their group song.
Charlie Mangold is an accomplished musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and holds a degree in jazz composition. Recently, Charlie produced tracks for former American Idol contestant, Jamar, Rogers, and coaches singers who were selected to audition for NBC's The Voice. Charlie collaborates extensively with legendary producer, Phil Ramone, (think Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Carly Simon, Madonna et al.) and has written and/or performed with Sheryl Crow, Sinead O'Connor, and Chaka Kahn. He was also a published songwriter for Geffen music and has won the John Lennon songwriting award. Charlie plays and teaches bass, drums, guitar, and piano and often coaches vocalists.
