Hike the beautiful woods right here in Greenwich
Learn outdoor survival skills
It's like summer camp in the spring for Ages 8-13!
Come join G1on1 and our
partner, Greenwich After School Archery at Cos Cob Archers, for an exciting week of
archery and outdoor exploration. Kids will be divided into two sections by grade (elementary and middle school) and activities will be specifically tailored to meet the interests and abilities of the age group.
Your four days will include:
Archery – Day 1 & 2: Learn or improve
your basic archery skills and then practice those skills over two days of shooting while hiking our 23-acre course.
Day 1 will be “field archery”, where you’ll be shooting at a variety of paper
targets. This will sharpen your skills for day 2 when you’ll “hunt” 3-D animals
including ”lions and tigers and bears”. You’ll even get to make your own arrow!
Wilderness Survival Skills –
Day 3: Team-based activities will focus on teaching you basic outdoor skills
including rope tying, shelter building, fire building (older group), how to use a
compass, and animal tracking.
Hiking – Day 4 will be an exploration
and team scavenger hike which will bring us from Cos Cob Archers to the
Pinetum, a town owned park and preserve. We’ll also explore the Pomerance
property, one of the newest additions to the Greenwich park system and the home
of the “gnome house”.
…and there will be interesting and
fun surprise activities too!
